Pesco Sannita is a meticulously well kept town with ornately paved streets and a beautiful hillside view. It is located northwest of the city of Benevento. The Caruso branch of my family tree, which at this point is only my great grandmother Maria Rosa Caruso, once lived here.
This town had the most beautiful cemetery surrounded by olive trees. We found many Caruso graves, but we don't know if any of them are relatives.

Cemetery entrance.
The cemeteries are usually on the road out of town.

Olive trees beside the cemetery.
Billowing smoke.
The smoke was so intensely white that we imagined this is how they dispose of the skeletons to make room for the next generation.

Leaving Pesco Sannita.
These two photographs were taken from our car on the winding hillside road leading north. We were going to Colle Sannita next.
